Almost 6 weeks old (2)
Because then I have to rock/walk her sleep, which is not easy when you are asleep yourself.
After the first few weeks of sleeping long spans she went to eating every 2 hours @ night and every 1 hour during the day. Lately she has started every 3 hours @ night and every 2 during the day. Every now and then she will sleep 4 hours.
The hard part is she is suffering from bad reflux and only would sleep being held upright. Lots of pillows in bed w/ her on my chest works for us both to sleep until she gets too hot and then she will sleep in the bassinet. It seems her constant gas & straining to poop is what wakes her up all the time, even from naps. She has been getting better at sleeping during the day longer. She used to only sleep being held, otherwise she would wake up when put down.
TMI: her poo has been mucousy & recently possible old blood spots. I have suspected from some research the she has MSPI (milk soy protien intolerance). I started eliminating milk from my diet few weeks ago.
Update Added: Sorry for the out of order posts... I think I will just post the long ones from the computer from now on... I just need to make myself do it.

Almost 6 weeks (3)
New text.... Baby woke up, continuing now. The semi elimination seemed to help some, but then not sticking to it, I noticed a big relapse in her symptoms. So the last few days I have been vigilant about no dairy or soy at all... VERY hard to do!
But my new theory now is it is possibly a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance because I was wearing the shells & constantly leaking all day. Especially since her symptoms have seemed to return depite the elimination, and I was eating more simple sugars to compensate for calories. Thus the supply of the sugary milk and not fat. I am so grateful for the oversupply, because some can't even build up if they wanted and I should be able to lower my supply w/ block feeding. I just hate to see her uncomfortable. And to think I am causing it! I hope that is what it is and not an intolerance. So much easier to deal with I hope. But I am still staying dairy free for now, just trying to eat more protien and fats.

I will try to get my birth story done and posted soon.

Almost 6 weeks old
Well, it has been an interesting 6 weeks. The only way I seem to update my blog is through texting from my phone. Sorry for the picture quality.
Yesterday Sydney had her 1 month check up (a week late). She was 11 lbs. 7 oz. (90th %tile) & 23 1/4 in. (97th %tile). Her head was only in the 75th %tile though. I am so grateful she is growing and getting enough from my breastmilk.
Speaking of which, I am about 80% healed from the sores she caused in the first few weeks. I have been wearing breast shells to keep my nipples from touching my bra, etc. and air drying as often as possible. Wearing "cups" around is not fun...collecting milk, leaking, hurts to hold my girl w/ them on, etc. But I am grateful that she has improved her latch greatly & only struggles now at night when she is half asleep. It is something to do w/ the way she rubs me w/ her tongue and not opening wide enough. I delatch & delatch until she gets mad and wakes up...so usually I just tolerate it, choosing sleep.
